Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbas is a Triple Board-Certified Interventional Psychiatrist.

He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at HMH School of Medicine and Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, NJ, USA. He is the Vice-chair of the Department of psychiatry and Director of the Neuromodulation division (ECT & TMS) at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy, NJ, since July 2023. After receiving his medical degree, he completed his postdoctoral training in headache and neuromodulation at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He is a clinical fellow trained in Chronic Pain Management and Addiction Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his Neuromodulation training from Columbia University, NY-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Abbas joined HMH Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ, in 2012 as Director of Addiction Medicine and ran the service for 5 years. He later joined the Neuromodulation division in 2017 and restarted the ECT and TMS services as the Director of Neuromodulation at JSUMC. He was also the first Director of Treatment Resistant Mood Clinic at Hope Tower, JSUMC, and ran the service till July 2023. He has been involved in multiple investigator-initiated and multicenter research trials. He is the author of more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in esteemed journals. He has presented multiple addiction and neuromodulation-related topics nationally and internationally. He teaches Addiction and Neuromodulation courses to the psychiatry residents and medical students.

Dr. Abbas specializes in treating adults with Mood, Anxiety, and Psychotic Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Personality Disorders, Sleep Disorders, Eating Disorders, Headache, Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Concussive Syndrome, and Substance Use Disorders.
